Our role as a qualified ‘Partner Testing Laboratory’ ensures that our ATEX testing services are accepted by several ATEX European Notified Bodies, playing a critical role in the ATEX Directive certification process.

External Explosion Facilities for Protective Systems
XEFRA is a testing laboratory specializing in the testing of Protective Systems for explosion safety. We ensure that these systems meet the stringent ATEX certification requirements, thereby upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Our testing services encompass:
- Explosion Suppression Systems: We test the effectiveness of these systems in suppressing explosions.
- Explosion Venting and Flameless Venting Systems: Our tests validate the performance of venting systems in managing explosions, including flameless options.
- Flame Arresters: We evaluate in-line and end-of-line flame arresters for both deflagration and detonation.
- Fast-Acting Valves: As part of our explosion isolation system tests, we check the responsiveness of these valves in preventing the spread of explosions.
- Flap Valves: These are tested as a key component of explosion isolation systems.
- Chemical Barriers: We test these barriers for their effectiveness as explosion isolation systems.
Our state-of-the-art ATEX testing facilities are designed to facilitate a broad range of tests, ensuring ATEX compliance and safety in hazardous environments:
- Controlled mass flow gas mixing for fast, accurate testing and certified by a GC analysis
- Explosion testing in 2 cubic meter chamber (i.e. Ex d Reference Pressure), Flame transmission and Overpressure to 250 bar
- Intrinsic Safety Spark testing
- Mechanical and PCB physical measurement
- Component ignition test bench
- Battery testing and Ex e battery box test benches
- Humidity, thermal conditioning & cycling, Thermal shock tests
- Impact Testing to 20J, Torque tests, Pull tests, Drop test
